Aaron is one of four children to Janice Marie and Richard, who worked as a physician. He and his siblings were responsible for growing strawberries on their home ranch and selling them. While still in elementary school, Aaron and his family moved to Peoria.
Since his fifth grade, Aaron started earning money, working as an independent contractor for a bookstore chain, after which he started buying event tickets for licensed ticket broker and invested his money in the stock market. As he grew older, he became more experienced and began doing the accounting work for a gravel pit company.
Aaron went to the Richwoods High School, where he excelled in all courses, and was even in some advanced classes, however, he couldn`t graduate early, as the school`s policy didn`t allowed it. Nevertheless, he enrolled at college before matriculation, and then graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley University in 2002.
While in college, Aaron continued with business ventures, investing in the real estate industry and starting a garage organizing business, Garage Tek. He eventually sold his business in order to focus on his political career.
Aaron was a part of the Peoria board of education from 2001 to 2005, and served as its president from 2004 until 2005. He left the position when he was elected as the Member of the Illinois House of Representatives in 2005, becoming the youngest ever member of the Illinois General Assembly. In the elections he defeated Ricca Slone by a tight margin of 235 votes, however, in 2006, difference was far greater, as he won 58% of the votes, defeating democrat Bill Spears. This eventually increased further his net worth. He stayed in the position until 2009, when he decided to run for Illinois’s 18th congressional district. His campaign was quite successful, as apart from receiving endorsements from 116 mayors across the district, he was also supported by the newspapers of his hometown. With this success, Aaron became the youngest member of Congress at only 27 years of age. Two years later, Aaron won once again, having 59% votes, securing his position for another two-year term, which would only increase further his net worth. In 2012 he won the elections once again, this time with 74% of the votes.

However, in 2015, he was accused of spending federal funds in personal use, and soon after he announced his resignation.
