Alex Kendrick is a son of Larry and Rhonwyn Kendrick and grew up in Georgia, where he served as an associate pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church, in Albany, from 1999 to 2014. Kendrick studied at Kennesaw State University, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. After learning that the movies could be produced by using the church’s production, Kendrick made several films in the 2000’s; he directed and wrote “Flywheel” in 2003, about a dishonest used car salesman, and the DVD sold over million copies. He then made a sports drama “Facing the Giants” in 2006, a story about a losing coach and his struggles with an underdog football team – the movie grossed over $10 million at the box office, and the sales of DVD’s went over 2.5 million in 54 countries. In 2008, Kendrick made “Fireproof”, a romantic drama about a firefighter and his love experiment, which became the highest-grossing independent movie in 2008 with $33 million taken at the box office, which only increased his net worth. His latest two films are “Courageous” in 2011 and “War Room” in 2015. “Courageous” is a drama about four police officers and their ways of coping with a tragedy. It became the No.1 selling DVD in America and grossed around $35 million, increasing further his net worth. “War Room” is a drama about a family that is trying to fix their problems. It was the #1 movie at the box office at one point, and has been released in 20 other countries.

Kendrick also starred in each of his films, and played in “The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone” in 2013, and “Moms’ Night Out” in 2014. He won the Sabaoth International Film Festival award for “Flywheel”, and Movie Guide Award for “Courageous”.

Not only has Kendrick made five well-received movies, but he has also written five novels; the first three he co-written with his brother Stephen and novelist Eric Wilson. Randy Alcorn joined him in writing the “Courageous”, while Bill Muir helped Kendrick with his fifth novel “The Lost Medallion”. His non-fiction marriage-related book called “The Love Dare”, is a best-selling publication and has sold over 5 million copies in the United States, adding a substantial amount to his net worth. Stephen joined him again in 2013 when the brothers released “The Love Dare for Parents”, which also became a best-selling book. The success of these publications has helped Kendrick to increase his net worth significantly. Kendrick and his two brothers, Stephen and Shannon, founded the Kendrick Brothers Productions, and the company also improved Alex’s wealth.
