Tapping’s family moved to Canada when she was young, and later she would attend North Toronto Collegiate Institute. There she studied Environmental Science and later focused on Drama; afterwards, she went on to attend the University of Windsor School Of Dramatic Arts. After graduating, she continued to study Theatrical Arts while participating in several stage productions, including “Children of a Lesser God” and “Steel Magnolias”. This was the start of her net worth.

Amanda started out appearing in various television commercials – notably for the doughnut chain Tim Hortons – before getting roles on television and in film. She became part of “The X-Files” and “The Outer Limits”, while also performing with a comedy troupe called “Random Acts”. She also became a part of several television movies such as “The Haunting of Lisa”, “Forever Knight”, and “Remembrance”. In 1997, she was cast as Samantha Carter in the science fiction series “Stargate SG-1”, and would reprise the role in “Stargate Atlantis” after the original series ended its run. However, during the fifth season she was demoted to a recurring guest because she was already working on another series by Syfy entitled “Sanctuary”. She was the executive producer and star of the show which released eight webisodes in 2007. Her net worth was rising steadily.

In 2011, Amanda worked with William Shatner for the animated webisode series “The Zenoids”, in which they both voiced characters. She also headed the project as Executive Producer. She also became part of the short film “Breakdown” which won her a Canadian Comedy Award. One of her latest appearances was in an episode of “Supernatural” in which she had the role of the angel Naomi.

Aside from her acting career, Tapping is also known for her directorial work, on several episodes of “Stargate SG-1”. She has also done directorial work for “Sanctuary”, “Primeval: New World”, “Continuum”, and “Olympus”. One of her latest projects as a director is “Dark Matter”, all adding to her net worth.

For her personal life, it is known that Amanda married Alan Kovacs in 1994 and they reside in Vancouver, British Columbia. The couple has one daughter, and Tapping has three other sibling brothers, one of whom passed away in 2006. She also mentioned in an interview that she didn’t initially want to do television roles, but that her career took her in that direction.

1[on the establishment of the charity, "Sanctuary for Kids"] To me, I'm living this great life. I thought there must be some way I can give back. Smaller charities can do a lot. There are places where a small amount of money can make a huge difference. The mandate is to help people who need help. It's a small drop in the bucket, but it's a drop. And it is making a difference.
2[on Sanctuary (2008)] We are a one-hundred percent independent Canadian television series. I think that's an anomaly in this country, and probably around the world in most countries. To have a television show that doesn't have the backing of a major studio or a major network is really unusual.
3[on winning her first Saturn Award] All I can say is thank God "Buffy"'s off the air, I was starting to feel like Susan Lucci.

Christopher Judge is the only other person to have made more than 200 appearances in "Stargate" with 212 episodes of Stargate SG-1 (1997), two episodes of Stargate: Atlantis (2004) and the two aforementioned direct-to-DVD movies.
5Along with Gary Jones, she is one of only two actors to appear in all ten seasons of Stargate SG-1 (1997) and all five seasons of Stargate: Atlantis (2004).
