Amy Lee (Singer) Net Worth $12 million
To begin with, Amy Lee grew up in a very musical family; her father, John Lee, was a member of a band called The Hard Luck Band, but as he also worked on the radio, the family had to move often, including to Kansas City, Missouri and West Palm Beach, Florida. When Lee was six years old, her younger sister died, to whom Amy later dedicated two of her songs – “Hello” and “Like You”.
Concerning her professional career, Amy Lee with Ben Moody founded the band Evanescence – the two met in a youth camp while Lee was singing the song “I’d Do Anything for Love (but I Will not Do That)” by Meat Loaf. Afterwards, the two sang in Arkansas bookshops and cafes, before recording two EPs: “Evanescence” (1998) and then “Sound Asleep” (1999). Moreover, the band released an album “Origin” in 2000 with the help of an unknown label, and were subsequently offered a record deal with Wind Up Records. Evanescence’s first album “Fallen” (2003) managed to sell more 17 million copies worldwide, and singles from the album – “My Immortal”, “Going Under” and “Bring Me To Life” – were also successful all over the world. In addition to commercial success, Lee won two Grammy Awards in 2003. Lee is now the only original member of Evanescence, as Moody resigned from the band in 2004, and was replaced by Terry Balsamo. There have been other maneuvers since then. Evanescence released its new album “The Open Door” in 2006. After releasing the album and the subsequent tour, Lee had a break from Evanescence because she wanted to concentrate on other issues such as marriage and visual arts. Amy has admitted that she was discontinuing the band at that time.
Evanescence came back in 2011 and released the album “Evanescence” – in 2014, Lee filed a lawsuit against Evanescence’s Wind-up Records for unpaid copyright claims. The company failed to pay $1.5 million to the band. Soon, Lee announced that Evanescence’s record deal with Wind-up Records has been cancelled, and she was free to do what she wants, with the band or otherwise.
Recently, she released an English cover of Francesca Michielin’s “L’amore esiste”, produced by Guy Sigsworth, and Dave Eggar contributed the arrangement of strings. In 2017, the song “Speak to Me” was released, which was also a closing track of the film “Voice from the Stone”.
Finally, in the personal life of a singer, Lee married therapist Josh Hartzler in 2007, and they have one child.
