Andy Williams Net Worth $45 Million

To begin with, Williams was raised in Wall Lake, the son of Jay Emerson and Florence Williams. His first musical performance was in a children’s choir of a Presbyterian church. Williams and his three older brothers formed the Williams Brothers Quartet in late 1938 and performed on Midwestern radio stations, first at WHO in Des Moines, Iowa, and later at WLS Chicago and WLW in Cincinnati.

His solo career began in 1953, and during the 1960s, Williams was one of the most popular vocalists. Among his successful albums of this period are “Moon River” (1963), “Days of Wine and Roses” (number one for 16 weeks, mid 1963), “The Andy Williams Christmas Album” (1964), “Dear Heart” (1965), “The Shadow of Your Smile” (1966), “Love, Andy” (1968), “Get Together with Andy Williams” (1969) and “Love Story” (1971). These recordings, in addition to their natural affinity for music from the 1960s and early 1970s, combined to make him one of the leading light music singers of the time in the UK and USA. Between 1962 and 1967 as well as from 1969 to 1971 he had his own television show “The Andy Williams Show”. Stars such as Peter, Paul and Mary, Ray Charles, Bobby Darin and Antônio Carlos Jobim had guest appearances in this show. In 1964, he played in the film “I’d Rather Be Rich”. He was promoter of a star musical group in the decade of the 1970’s: The Osmond Brother, mainly its vocalist Donny Osmond. In the autumn of 2009, Williams performed live on BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” in London, singing “Moon River” to promote the British edition of “The Very Best of Andy Williams”, which reached number ten on the pop list.

Williams suffered from bladder cancer from 2011, but in the middle of 2012, it was announced that Williams had recovered and could return to the stage in a few months. Unfortunately, he died on the 25th September 2012 in Branson, Missouri.

Finally, in the personal life of Williams, he married Claudine Longet, a dancer from the Folies Bergère cabaret, in 1961, and they had three children. After a long separation, Williams and Longet divorced in 1975. In 1976, Longet was accused of killing her boyfriend, Spider Sabich. Williams supported Longet at her trial, and finally she was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Andy Williams married for the second time to Meyer Debbie in 1991, and they were together until his passing.

#Quote
1[Williams, an ultra-conservative Republican, replying to a question about US President Barack Obama] Don't like him at all. I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very left-wing. One is registered as a Communist [a rumor at the time that turned out be false]. Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail.
2I still don't think I'm as good as anyone else.
3The important things are children, honesty, integrity and faith.
4[on his support of ex-wife Claudine Longet after she shot to death her lover, skier Spider Sabich, in 1976] I had to be there for her. She is the mother of my children. And we never stopped being friends. I still accept her story that the shooting was accidental. Bing Crosby's wife once told me that she was amazed that I had taken so much trouble to help Claudine after we divorced. I said that anybody would have done the same thing, and she said, "Bing wouldn't." I think she meant that Bing was a very rigid guy, and once you had screwed up, you were off his list. Well, that's not the kind of guy I am.
