However, this project was cancelled by the executive board two years later, so she left and joined Fifth & Pacific Company as the Vice-President of Marketing and Corporate Design. In 2001, she was promoted to the Senior Vice-President of Merchandising Corporate and Group President; in her capacity, Angela was responsible for the commercialization of 20 brands, including Laundry by Shelli, Lucky Brand Dungarees and Liz Claiborne. In 2002, she was promoted again to the position of Executive Vice-President, which entailed responsibility for the entire product line of Liz Claiborne. Her net worth was rising steadily.

Afterwards, Ahrendts moved to Burberry at the beginning of 2006 and took over as CEO in July 2006, reversing immediately the falling prestige of the brand.
