Anna Friel Net Worth $10 Million

To begin with, Anna Louise Friel is the daughter of Julie, a special educator and Des Friel, a former professor of French and owner of design websites. Her father is also a former folk music guitarist. She was educated at Crompton House Church of England High School in High Crompton, then, took courses at Holy Cross College, in Bury, Lancashire. Friel was interested in acting from an early age, and was praised in a local talent competition.

Concerning her professional career, she debuted in 1991 with the series “G.B.H.”, broadcast on Channel 4 in which she played the daughter of Michael Palin. Her performance led the young actress to multiple appearances in numerous television series, including the very popular “Emmerdale” (1992), but it was in 1993 when she became known to the public after playing the role of lesbian Beth Jordache in th Channel 4 TV series “Brookside”, remaining in the series until 1995, the same year winning the National Television Award for the most popular actress. She then made her film debut in “The Tribe” (1998), which was the subject of controversy due to scenes of nudity and sex, but her net worth was now well set.

Anna debuted in the US in the play “Closer” by Patrick Marber, performed at New York’s Music Box Theatre in 1999, her performance earning her the Theatre World Award and Drama Desk Award for best actress in a play. She then participated in two other plays in London: “Lulu” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. She was one of the three female actresses alongside Rachel Weisz and Catherine McCormack in the drama “The Land Girls”, which also created a strong impression, and although the film did not meet with success outside of England, it allowed her to embody the wife of Ewan McGregor in the drama film “Rogue Trader” (1999), and then in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (1999) with Michelle Pfeiffer.

The 2000s were successful on both sides of the Atlantic, in feature films including “An Everlasting Piece” (2000), “Me Without You”( 2001) and “War Bride” (2001). She also starred in the critically acclaimed film “Goal!” (2005) and its sequel “Goal 11: Living the Dream”. In 2007, the actress attracted attention with the television series “Pushing Daisies” (2007 – 2009), in which she interpreted the female lead role. After the cancellation of the aforementioned series, she was offered roles in six television series, but declined to concentrate on her film career. In 2009, Friel lent her traits to the young and seductive student Holly Cantrell in the comedy adventure “Land of the Lost”, starring with Will Ferrell, however, the film was a real critical and commercial failure. In 2010, the actress starred with Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley in “London Boulevard” and with Bradley Cooper in “Limitless” (2011). She was also shot under the direction of Woody Allen in “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” (2011). Recently, she starred in the thriller film “I.T.” by John Moore.

Finally, in the personal life of the actress, Friel started dating the actor David Thewlis in 2001. The couple had a daughter, Gracie Ellen Mary Friel, born in 2005, but in December 2010, they decided to separate. From 2011 to 2014, she was partnered with actor Rhys Ifans, since when the actress has been single.

1You can see when an actor gets bored: Their eyes go dead. I promised myself I'd never let that happen. If it does, I'll go and live on a desert island for a year.
2As long as she is talented enough and passionate about doing it herself then I will be happy and support her. I think I will be sensible - my parents said I could only do it if I got my education and so I had something to fall back on.
3We will spend more time in America, we're going to get a place in LA as hotels aren't great for the baby.
4Onstage, there's no hiding; you either can or can't act. There's no second take.
5It's really important to draw the line on what we do as actors.
6I've been onstage once for one performance with four days' rehearsal.
7Well it's hard to bracket it like that because everyone always thinks you either go to America and you come back, fail or succeed, but it doesn't work like that.
8The doctors say it dates back to a film where I had these huge prosthetic breasts because my character was breast-feeding. The weight of them, and of the baby, did my back in.
9Now learning a bit more about footballers I think what they need to do well, is someone who really wants to stay in the background and just be a strong support.
10I want more children but for the next three years I want to act.
11David is 13 years my senior and has much more experience.
12For Closer, we've had five weeks. You go into every single word because it's very, very concentrated dialogue.
13And the most important thing - apart from telling a good, believable story, and being a true character - is to be someone the audience will care about, even if you're playing a murderer or rapist.
14I've always chosen incredibly different roles and things that are quite offbeat. That way you're not limited.
15I look at being an actress as being like a mummy: You're bandaged up and preserved as soon as you start making other people money.
16I have the most lovely, healthy bouncing baby, she was all very compact and the right size.
17For me personally, everything is on a kiss.
18Being a mother gives you an incredible feeling of empowerment, you think if I can go through such pain and that level of sleep and still operate and not be grumpy you can do anything. It can be quite scary, you can't function your brain, forget your vocabulary.
19I play a character every day of my life, and I don't want to play a character as myself. They can judge me as an actress, not as a person. I'm not a spokeswoman for Anna.
20People became more interested in my love life than in me, and that has a certain effect. You start to feel very empty and worth nothing, you start to become a piece in a board game you never wanted to play.
21Some producer suddenly grabbed my doughnut out of my hand. Then he said, 'Anna, you really shouldn't be doing that'. He said, 'your tummy's not looking right on screen'. If it's just about that they should have hired a model. I mean, we're not talking about a big f**king tummy here!
