Antonio attended St. Francis DeSales, and after matriculating went to Bowling Green State University, where he played college basketball for four years, and then joined the 1997 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies as the fourth overall pick, but was then traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1998 as an exchange for Carl Herrera and Felipe Lopez. As part of the Spurs, Antonio would perform well and help the team reach the NBA playoffs and win the NBA championship in 1999. He was then offered a high valued contract which increased his net worth significantly, and continued to play for the Spurs for the next three years before he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, with Charles Smith and Amal McCaskill in exchange for Steve Kerr, Erick Barkley, and a 2003 NBA draft second round pick. Later on, Antonio would become a free agent, and signed with the Seattle SuperSonics. He made significant contributions as part of the team.
