Arthur grew up in his hometown and went to Ashbury College, and then enrolled at McMaster University from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Following his graduation, Arthur moved to Toronto in order to pursue a career in music, initially as a drummer. He found a spot in the Wells-Davidson Band as a drummer, but after meeting with Dennis Ruffo in Ottawa, who served as band’s promoter, Arthur’s ambitions changed, and his career took another course. Little by little, he started building a name for himself as a promoter; in 1981 he became a part of the Concert Productions International (CPI), which was focused on promoting tours and artists mostly in Toronto, but also all over Canada. Five years later he was appointed President of the Concert Divison at CPI, and served in this position until 1995, which only increased his net worth, and he also gained much needed experience.
After that he joined The Next Adventure (TNA), and became its president. In 1998 TNA was bought by SFX, and he was appointed as CEO of the global touring division. Arthur also holds several other positions, including chairman of the Global Music group. He has also collaborated with Sting and his former band The Police, and promoted tours of such successful artists as David Bowie, Neil Young, Rush, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Beyonce and Bruno Mars, among others, which has only increased his net worth by a large margin.
Arthur has also managed setbacks, including the cancellation of concerts by Diana Ross, and by Guns ‘n Roses after their failure to appear on stage, but these have been small incidents when compared to the rest of his career.
