Johnson was the youngest child in the family, and is of Swedish, Danish, Scottish and Irish descent. As a child, her father’s job took their family to Michigan, where they settled in Franklin a suburb of Detroit. Her mother was an independent film producer, so Ashley was interested in film and acting from an early age, and began acting at the age of six when she landed a role in the TV sitcom “Growing Pains”, airing from 1990 to 1992. Her talent secured her numerous other roles, so by the time she was twelve, Ashley had already starred in eight TV series.
