Beau Willimon Net Worth $10 Million

Beau is the son of Henry Pack Willimon and his wife Nancy. His father served in the US Navy as a captain, which meant frequent moves and young Beau lived in San Francisco, California, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii, before the Willimon family settled in St. Louis Missouri, when his father retired from Navy and started working as a lawyer.

Beau went to John Burroughs School where he was taught by Jon Hamm at drama classes. He matriculated in 1995, and then enrolled at Columbia Universit, graduating with a BA degree in visual arts in 1999. A year prior, he was a volunteer under Charles Schumer and his Senate campaign, and continued with Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate Campaign, then Bill Bradley’s 2000 presidential campaign, and eventually worked for Howard Dean during his 2004 presidential campaign.

Following his college graduation, he was in Tallinn, Estonia, working for the ministry of the interior for the Estonian government. After his stint there ended, he moved to Vietnam and worked for a local cultural magazine and got inspiration for his first screenplay based upon the life of Tomas Vu, a visual art professor at Columbia but whose childhood years were spent in Vietnam, while the Vietnam War was at its height.

Beau returned to the USA and enrolled at Columbia’s School of the Arts, studying under Eduardo Machado, among other playwrights. He thought of himself as the worst in his group, but he learned fast and in 2003 received his MFA in Playwriting. After that he held several odd jobs, such as being a painter’s assistant and set builder, meantime continuing his education in the Julliard School’s Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program, and received the Lila Acheson Wallace Juilliard Playwriting Fellowship and the Lincoln Center Le Compte du Nuoy Award.

His first professional work was created at Julliard; a play entitled “Farragut North”, for which he got inspiration while being a volunteer for Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign. His play hadits premier in 2008 at the Atlantic Theater Company, with John Gallagher, Jr., Olivia Thirlby, and Chis Noth in the lead roles, then other productions, most notable with Chris Pine in the lead role, for which Beau received a nomination for the John Gassner Award by the Outer Critics Circle. His net worth was now well established.

He continued to write plays and in 2008 had two more premiers – “Lower Ninth” and Zusammenburch”, then in 2010 “Spirit Control”, in 2013 “The Parisian Woman”, and his most recent play “Breathing Time” in 2014.

Aside from plays, Beau started writing films, and television series, and in 2011 adapted “The Ides of March”, which starred George Clooney, Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman, for which Beau received an Academy Award nomination in the category Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay, with his helpers, George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The trio was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award in the category Best Screenplay – Motion Picture.

Then in 2012 he adapted the BBC series “House of Cards” for Netflix, and since 2013 has been on air, with stars Robin Wright, Corey Stoll, Kate Mara and others. Also, he received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations and has won a WGA Award. These certainly helped increase further Beau’s net worth.

Most recently, he has been working on developing a series about the first mission to Mars, produced by Hulu and scheduled for release in 2018.

Regarding his personal life, Beau tends to keep his most intimate details, including marital status and number of children, hidden from the public eye; therefore, there is no information about this side of the famous playwright and screenwriter.
