Bernard Goldberg, born to a family of Jewish heritage, grew up in New York City and graduated from Rutgers University in 1967. From there, he started his career as a writer and slowly worked his way up the ladder. In 1972, he was hired by CBS News as a producer, and worked for two years before becoming a reporter in 1974. Two years after that he became a correspondent.

During his time at CBS, Goldberg reported news from all over the world, mostly appearing in the CBS Evening News. He also contributed to the CBS news magazines Eye to Eye with Connie Chung and 48 Hours. He built up a solid portfolio, and garnered much respect and acclaim from his peers. On 26 May 1994, Goldberg hosted his first primetime documentary “Don’t Blame Me”, a success which he followed up with another released four years later in April 1998 – “In Your Face, America”. Goldberg’s time at CBS earned him a lot of the wealth in his net worth, but he really wrote a paycheck when he joined HBO in 1999.

In 1999, Goldberg accepted an offer to join HBO’s Real Sports – the offer provided a hefty bump to his net worth, as well as a new audience to tap into. In April of 2001, Goldberg won the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Sports Journalism” for his segment about recruiting practices used by MLB teams in the Dominican Republic; this was his seventh Emmy.

Goldberg made headlines again in 2004 when he won another Sports Emmy for “Outstanding Sports Journalism” for exposing the illegal use of young boys as camel jockeys in Saudi Arabia. He won the award again in 2008 for his report about concussions in the NFL, and in 2009 for a segment about the killing of racehorses which were no longer profitable. He continues to work with HBO and Fox News, as well as contribute his writing to various outlets.

Besides his extensive career in journalism, Goldberg is also an acclaimed author of “five books – |”Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News” (2001), |”Arrogance: Rescuing America from the Media Elite” (2003), “100 People Who Are Screwing Up America” (2005), “Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right: How One Side Lost Its Mind, and the Other Lost Its Nerve” (2007), and “A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media” (2009). All of his books are best sellers, and have contributed greatly to his net worth.

Regarding his personal life, Goldberg is married to psychologist Nancy Solomon.
