He went to Stuyvesant High School, from which he matriculated in 1996, and then enrolled at Northwestern University, where he was a roommate with Robin Lord Taylor, an actor best known to the world as Oswald Cobblepot in the TV series “Gotham” (2014-2017). Billy graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Before he became a star of entertainment, Billy came a long way, starting with a small and simple stage show “Creation Nation: A Live Talk Show”. His name started becoming more known, and in 2006 he made his first screen appearance as the correspondent in the comedy show “Nighttime Clap”. The same year he was co-host of the show “Joan Rivers’ Straight Talk” along with Andy Cohen. He eventually made a breakthrough in 2011, when he started his own web show – “Billy on the Street” – which he launched through the video website and film/TV production company Funny or Die, founded by Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy and Adam McKay. Soon his show was picked up by truTV, and Brian’s rise had begun. Since then, he has become one of the most successful comedians, and earned a number of appearances in variety shows, including “Conan (2012-2016), “Wendy: The Wendy Williams Show” (2012-2016), “Watch What Happens: Live” (2012-2014), “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (2014-2017), and “The Late Show with James Corden” (2015-2017), all of which have helped increase his wealth.
After gaining attention as a comedian, Billy wanted to try himself as a (more or less) straight an actor, and recorded his first notable role in 2013, although only as the voice of Mr. Ambrose in the TV series “Bob’s Burgers” (2013-2017), but the same year he was chosen for the role of Craig Middlebrooks in the TV comedy series “Parks and Recreation” (2013-2015), which increased his net worth significantly. Billy was then given the role of Billy Epstein in another comedy series -“Difficult People” (2015-2017) – so far featuring in 28 episodes of the popular series. In between, he had the lead role in the musical “Hairspray Live!” (2016), and most recently featured in the comedy-drama series “Friends from College” (2017), and the horror drama “American Horror Story” (2017), as Harrison Wilton.
He is also working on the comedy film “Most Likely to Murder” scheduled for release in 2018, in which he will portray the lead character Speigel, and will also provide the voice of Timon in the animated film “The Lion King”, scheduled for a 2019 release.

1 | There's almost nothing in the cultural world that's harder to get right than a Broadway musical, but when someone does, there's nothing more invigorating or satisfying. In an increasingly digital age, it's so refreshing to see real people telling a story on stage. No filtered photos, no holograms, no VR - real human beings sharing a moment together. It never gets old. |
2 | [to the question whether he ever felt threatened by the reaction to his impromptu street interviews] Nine times out of ten, people are game. You know, pardon the pun. But they are. They might not want to participate, they might just walk by me, but they're not angry. Once on a while I've had a handful of occurrences where they are. An old lady slapped me across the face really hard. |
