Bob is of mixed origin – his father is an American, but has Swedish blood roots, and his mother is Brazilian. Since an early age, Bob has been in love with skateboards, and as soon as he turned 14, his professional career began.
Little by little, Bob found his focus on switch stance skateboarding, creating new tricks, such as One-footed Smith grind, which is his signature trick.
His first medal came in 1997 at the X Games III held in San Diego; Bob won the bronze medal in the Vert category. Since then, he has won 28 medals, half of them being gold, in categories such as Vert, Big Air, and Rail Jam.
Before the 2000s, Bob won two bronze medals more, in San Diego in 1998 and San Francisco in 1999 in the categories Vert Doubles and Vert Best Trick.
With the beginning of the 2000s, his career took a turn for the better, winning golden medals, in the X Games held in San Francisco 2000, 2001 in Philadelphia, then in 2003 in Los Angeles, and two years later, again in Los Angeles. These successes increased Bob`s net worth by a large margin.
Bob continued successfully through the second half of the 2000s, winning gold medals at the X Games held in Los Angeles, in 2007, 2008 and 2010. Nothing changed for Bob in 2010s, continuing to dominate the skateboarding parks throughout the USA, and around the world as well, winning gold medals at X Games in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil 2013, Barcelona, Spain 2013, Munich, Germany 2013 and Austin, Texas 2015.
Thanks to his popularity and successes, Bob has appeared in several skateboard video games, including the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and its sequels, which have also added a substantial amount to his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, Bob has never married, but has two daughters, one with Jen O’Brien and a second with Veronica Nachard, with whom he currently resides in Vista, California.
In his yard, Bob has a skateboard park, which has a vert ramp in its composition; also, it has one of the world’s few permanent Mega Ramps.
Bob is also recognized for his philanthropic activities, starting the Bob Burnquist Foundation, which focuses on growing organic food, and also tries to implement organic food production into schools. He has also started the Action Sports Environmental Coalition, which helps bring awareness to sportsmen about the importance of preserving the environment.
