Bradley Whitford Net Worth $11 Million

Bradley Whitford is a son of George Van Norman Whitford and Genevieve Louie and grew up in Wisconsin, where he went to the Madison East High School, matriculating in 1977 before graduating with a BA in English and Theater from Wesleyan University in 1981. From 1981 to 1985, Whitford went to the Juilliard School’s Drama Division, where he was a member of the “Group 14”.

In 1985, Whitford debuted in an episode of “The Equalizer”, then in 1986 he appeared in the movie called “Doorman”. In 1987, Bradley played in David Greene’s Golden Globe Award-winning bio-drama “The Betty Ford Story” starring Gena Rowlands. By the end of the ‘80s, Whitford had parts in “Adventures in Babysitting” (1987) with Elisabeth Shue, Maia Brewton, and Keith Coogan, and in “Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise” (1987) alongside Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong. His net worth was well set.

In the early ‘90s Whitford played in many notable movies, such as “Presumed Innocent” (1990) starring Harrison Ford and Raul Julia, and in the Oscar-nominated “Young Guns II” (1990) with Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, and Lou Diamond Phillips. He also appeared in such hits as Penny Marshall’s Oscar-nominated drama “Awakenings” (1990) with Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, and Julie Kavner, and the Oscar-winning “Scent of a Woman” (1992) starring Al Pacino and Chris O’Donnell.

Whitford continued with parts in “My Life” (1993) alongside Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman, in Clint Eastwood’s “A Perfect World” (1993), and in Jonathan Demme’s Oscar-winning drama “Philadelphia” (1993) starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. In the mid-90s, Bradley appeared in Joel Schumacher’s Oscar-nominated “The Client” (1994) with Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones, and Brad Renfro, and in “My Fellow Americans” (1996) alongside Jack Lemmon, James Garner, and Dan Aykroyd. Whitford ended the decade with roles in “Red Corner” (1997) starring Richard Gere, and in Oscar-nominated “Bicentennial Man” (1999) with Robin Williams, Embeth Davidtz, and Sam Neill. His net worth was certainly rising steadily.

From 1999 to 2006, Whitford played Josh Lyman in 155 episodes of the Golden Globe Award-winning series “The West Wing”, while from 2001 to 2003 he received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role. In the meantime, Bradley played in such movies as James Mangold’s Oscar-nominated “Kate & Leopold” (2001) starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman, in “Little Manhattan” (2005), and in the Golden Globe Award-nominated “An American Crime” (2007). From 2006 to 2007, he appeared alongside Matthew Perry and Amanda Peet in 22 episodes of “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”, while he ended the decade with a part in “Bottle Shock” (2008) with Chris Pine, Alan Rickman, and Bill Pullman, all contributing to his net worth.

In 2010, Whitford played Dan Stark in 20 episodes of “The Good Guys”, and then appeared in “The Cabin in the Woods” (2012), and in the Oscar-nominated “Saving Mr. Banks” (2013) starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. Most recently, Bradley played in “Other People” (2016) and in Jay Roach’s Golden Globe Award-nominated “All the Way” (2016). He is currently filming “The Philosophy of Phil” and “Unicorn Store”.

Regarding his personal life, Bradley Whitford was married to Jane Kaczmarek from 1992 to 2009, and has three children with her. Apparently Bradley is currently dating actress Amy Landecker.

1[on whether he thinks there is a difference between actors who do theater and film versus those who just do film] I think with certain kinds of material it's just a huge advantage. I myself cannot imagine what it would be like to be an actor who hadn't done theater simply because when you're an actor you're a pawn in storytelling, and if you're onstage you're telling a story over and over, you're telling the entire story eight times a week. If you're in a movie or TV show, you're telling it once out of sequence in snippets. You just get to act more [in theater]. I think it's the reason we had such a great group in "The West Wing." The reason was they were all theater actors.
2[on if he's felt typecast after "The West Wing"] You're going to get typecast as whatever you do, but to be typecast as that guy who was complicated, passionate, funny, that's fine. But yeah, people think you're going to be a smart guy in a suit. But my God, what a wonderful experience. The only problem with it is it does spoil you; honestly, not to be pretentious but the creative experience, that kind of writing and those kinds of actors and directors and that arena, for God's sake. What do you do after that? A show about a canning factory?
3I'm actually very personally conservative about what my kids are exposed to, and I've raised them like any parent where you're fighting the inevitable premature loss of their innocence because of a lot of crap that gets made. It is, by the way, upsetting to me that we live in a culture where the definition of obscenity is the act of procreation.
4[explaining his once-made-remark that actors are alcoholics waiting to happen] What I meant by that was it's a very tiny percentage of humanity that would entertain the notion of making a spectacle out of themselves, whether on television or even more excruciatingly live onstage. And that indicates to me an incredibly assertive part of that person. The problem is you take these people with this incredibly rare assertive impulse and put them in a business that renders them totally passive. Usually you have to wait for somebody to write the play or to direct the play; you have to get chosen for the play; you have to see if the play does well. There's no resolution to that kind of assertiveness that is the crux of what I think makes a lot of actors very good and the passivity that the business imposes on you.
