Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Hammond started acting at a very early age. As early as 1991, he had already made his first appearance on television in the series “Gabriel’s Fire”. He then appeared in the television movie “Lies and Lullabies”, and starred in small roles in the series “Coach” and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” from 1996 to 1998. His early years in television made him a household name and also started his net worth.

When Hammond ventured into the world of film, he became more prominent being able to feature in high profile films. In 1993, he starred in “Menace II Society”, playing the character of young Caine. Then in 1995, he then starred in the urban horror film “Tales from the Hood”. That same year, Hammond also appeared in the movies “Strange Days”, “Waiting to Exhale” and “No Easy Way”, which contributed consistently to his net worth.

He also worked with big names in Hollywood when he starred in “The Fan”, where he acted alongside Robert De Niro and Wesley Snipes. He also worked with Michael Jordan when he played the younger version of the NBA superstar in the movie “Space Jam”.
