Jacobs grew up in Napoleonville, Louisiana, along with his younger brother, where he attended Assumption High School. Playing for the school’s football team, he earned a number of honors, including USA Today All-America, Orlando Sentinel All-Southern, Prep Star All-Region and Louisiana Class 4A Most Valuable Offensive Player, largely a reward for running the most yards in the state of Louisiana.

Jacobs later enrolled in Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas. In his two extraordinary seasons with the Red Ravens, he was named Kansas Jayhawk Conference All-Conference two times, the team MVP for CCC, a JUCO All-American and the KJCCC All-Conference First Team. After the Giants released him in 2012, Jacobs joined the San Francisco 49ers. However, he only participated in three games for the team, gaining five carries for seven yards.
