Busta Rhymes Wiki Biography
Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., often referred to by the stage name of Busta Rhymes, is a famous American rap artist, record producer, composer, actor, as well as a voice actor. Considered to be one of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time, Busta Rhymes has managed to attract a large following due to his elaborate rapping technique, as well as his wild public image. In the early days, Rhymes is perhaps best known as the co-founder of a New York-based hip hop group “Leaders of the New School”, who reached their popularity by opening for and appearing on tracks with such artists as Public Enemy and A Tribe Called Quest. The group released their debut album “A Future Without a Past” in 1991, and shortly after the release of their second studio album decided to part ways.
Busta Rhymes Net Worth $20 Million
Ever since then, Busta Rhymes’ fame grew, as he kept making songs with TLC, Mary J. Blige, Puff Daddy, LL Cool J and many others. During his rapping career, Busta Rhymes has released ten studio albums and been nominated for his musical work for eleven Grammy Awards. A famous rap artist, how rich is Busta Rhymes? According to sources, Busta Rhymes’ net worth is estimated to be $20 million, the majority of which comes from his rapping, as well as acting career.
Busta Rhymes was born in 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, but later moved out to Long Island. Rhymes then enrolled in the George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School, where he studied with Jay Z, Notorious B.I.G and DMX. When “Leaders of the New School” broke up, Busta Rhymes Went on to launch his solo career, but also started making appearances with other artists. It was at the same time when he made his acting debut in Ted Demme’s “Who’s the Man?” that he accepted a small role alongside Dr. Dre, Ed Lover and Salt. Around the same time Rhymes also co-starred with Omar Epps, Kristy Swanson and Ice Cube in a drama film created by John Singleton entitled “Higher Learning”. Therefore, even before officially launching his solo rapping career, Busta Rhymes was known in the industry as an actor.
1996 witnessed the release of Busta Rhymes’ debut album called “The Coming”. A critical and commercial success, “The Coming” peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart and was even certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album spawned two singles, one of which, namely “Woo Hah! Got You All in Check” was nominated for a Grammy Award. Ever since then, Busta Rhymes has been juggling both rapping and acting careers. He has made appearances in such films as “The Rugrats Movie”, where he voiced one of the characters, “Finding Forrester” with Sean Connery and Anna Paquin, “Full Clip” with Xzibit, and “Breaking Point” with Tom Berenger. Busta Rhymes also worked on his music career and released ten albums to date, the most recent being “E. L. E. 2 ( Extinction Level Event 2)”, which is set to be released some time soon.

1 | I appreciate the additional additives and preservatives that help sell a project, but I'm sticking to what works best for me. I gotta sell the album live on stage and make people believe in the songs. |
2 | I have a song called 'Decisions' that features Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Common. It's about people who have made a decision to really stand by you as friends. |
3 | I really only respect the Arab culture. I ain't really trying to pay no attention to, ya know, these little people in political positions and executive positions that ain't Arab culture oriented people because a lot of the times, what are you really showing all of this concern for? |
4 | I wanted to make something that reminded people of the way albums used to feel. I wanted something as good as the stuff put out by the Bomb Squad, or Dr. Dre and his production crew, or 'A Tribe Called Quest.' I miss albums like those. |
5 | I'm a fan of making films. Whether I'm on stage or in front of a camera, one of my first loves is performing for the people. I'd like to do more acting. |
6 | With every song I have a person in mind who, in a perfect world, would perform with me. Usually I end up not getting that person, and I'm forced to settle for someone else. |
7 | I will be so glad to take the picture and pose and look good for the picture. But when you catch me while I'm looking real sideways and the picture's ugly as hell, I don't want you to have the picture like that! |
8 | Brooklyn is where I primarily developed. I had an opportunity to make records and perform in clubs here and there, and I started networking with the right people in the right places. |
9 | It's been three years since I last performed here so I'm dying to tear the roof off Wembley Arena with some old school joints and brand new bangers. When I'm done, you're gonna remember it for a long time to come. |
10 | At the end of the day, man, you can't protect yourself from a haymaker that's coming in toward your face if you don't see it coming. |
11 | I called the album 'The Chemo' because it seems like the industry and music overall is dying slowly. |
12 | I feel like I introduce another level of my creative ability on every album. |
13 | I started growing my hair in December '89. I was seventeen. I signed my record deal and said I ain't combing my hair no more. I don't have too. |
14 | It's almost not safe to be an artist, the way everybody is randomly picking people to feud with. |
15 | My making it is a combination of grinding, grinding, grinding and being lucky enough to finally get a shot. |
16 | New York is traditional New York, you know what I'm saying? It's the stomping ground of the hustlers and go-getters. |
17 | The personal threat is something that's always been a part of our lives. |
18 | Whether it's working on five or 10 different things at the same time, I've got to stay in people's faces. |
19 | You could put me on any track. I support that one million percent. Whatever the track is, I'm going to smash it. Believe that. |
20 | I'm trying to set up opportunities for myself so that I don't only have one outlet to go through and rely upon as far as a support system financially, emotionally and mentally. |
21 | For me the best thing about winning an award is when the people cheer for your win. When you can see that the people are really happy that you are winning something, that's the most reward thing in the world. |
22 | Hip-hop reflects the truth, and the problem is that hip-hop exposes a lot of the negative truth that society tries to conceal. It's a platform where we could offer information, but it's also an escape. |
23 | I have no trouble being a good dude because that's what I am. |
24 | I want you to see that I'm looking. Look at me look at you. I'm cool with that. |
25 | My thinking is that if we're going to take from a culture, let's take from a culture that has exemplified success for thousands of years. |
26 | I feel like the quality of privacy and respect of people's personal space has been completely disintegrated. You can ask to take the picture. I will be so glad to take the picture and pose and look good for the picture. |
27 | You're gonna get your traditional Busta Rhymes and Pharrell collabo. My man Focus from the Aftermath crew; Dr. Dre; the late, great J Dilla got work on the album. It's gonna be great - look forward to the new bang-out. - On his 2007 album, 'Before Hell Freezes Over'. |
