Carla Hall Net Worth $2.5 Million Dollars
Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, Hall attended Hillsboro Comp High School and later graduated with a degree in accounting from Howard University. Straight afterwards, she obtained her CPA certificate when working at Price Waterhouse as an accountant. After two years, in 1988 Hall decided to leave the country to find her passion. She went to Paris, Milan and London and worked as a runway model, but it was during her years abroad that she discovered her true passion, for food.
Hall went back to the US, and started her career in the culinary world by opening a lunch delivery service in Washington D.C., called “Lunch Bunch”. After four years with the business, she decided to hone her culinary skills and enrolled in L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Hall earned a certificate in Culinary Career Training, and served as an intern at the Henley Park Hotel, where she was later on promoted to sous chef. She also worked as the executive chef at State Plaza and the Washington Club. Her early years working at various restaurants started to build her net worth, until in 2001 she decided to another open company of her own, Alchemy Caterers.
After years in the food industry, in 2008 Hall decided to join the TV competition cooking show “Top Chef”. Hall became popular not just for her talent but because of her attitude, being known for her “Hootie Hoo!” catch phrase and her “cooking with love” philosophy. Hall’s inclusion in the shows fifth season brought her worldwide recognition, and a tremendous addition to her wealth. Though she didn’t win, she won the people’s heart and even made a comeback in the shows’ “All-Star” edition.
Hall’s stint on “Top Chef” paved the way for a new career in the world of television; in 2011 she became part of the cooking-themed talk show “The Chew”, with co-hosts, Mario Batali, Clinton Kelly, Daphne Oz and Michael Symon. The show made Hall a household name and helped her net worth. Hall also has two cookbooks to her name, entitled “Cooking with Love: Comfort Food That Hugs You” released in 2012, and “Carla’s Comfort Foods: Favorite Dishes From Around the World”, released in 2014.
Today, Hall is still with “The Chew” now in its fifth season, and is soon to open her first restaurant, Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen. Hall is also an active participant with various charities including The USO, DC Central Kitchen, Feeding America and WCR to name a few. She also sits as one of the board members of the Pajama Program and GenYouth.
In terms of her personal life, Hall has been married since 2006 to photographer Matthew Lyons; she became a stepmother to Lyons’ son, Noah.
