Carmine started becoming popular as the drummer of the 1960s psychedelic band Vanilla Fudge. His net worth was increasing at this point, as he would be responsible for helping the band produce five albums. Afterwards, he along with bassist Tim Bogert would leave the band to create the blues rock band Cactus, after which the two would leave to create the trio Beck, Bogert, & Appice. He subsequently created the drum instruction book “The Realistic Rock Drum Method” in 1972, later republished as “The Ultimate Realistic Rock Drum Method”, covering a lot of basics of rock rhythms and other fundamentals, adding somewhat to his net worth.

In 1977, Carmine would join Rod Stewart’s backing band and co-write several songs such as “Young Turks”. He also played the drums on Paul Stanley’s solo album in 1978, and became a member of the KGB band, but continued recording with other artists as well, including Pink Floyd, Ted Nugent, and Stanley Clark. He also played with Blue Murder and King Kobra before touring with Ozzy Osbourne in 1983 to promote “Bark of the Moon”.

In 1995, Carmine along with guitarist Pappo worked on the record “Caso Cerrado”, before Vanilla Fudge was reformed and would continue to work on various musical projects. In 2006, he formed SLAMM which is a drum ensemble that featured five drummers, and was voted as a runner-up in the Drum magazine poll for Percussion Ensemble. In 2009 he recorded “Carmine Appice’s Guitar Zeus: Conquering Heroes” which featured several popular guitarists. In 2011, he was included in Sly Stone’s “Stand!” which was part of “I’m Back! Family & Friends”, and also appeared in the “Drum Wars” shows alongside his brother. The band King Kobra was also reformed, and would release a self-titled album in the same year. The album would receive critical acclaim, and it would lead to “King Kobra II” in 2013.

Carmine also published his memoir in 2016, entitled “Stick It!: My Life of Sex, Drums & Rock ‘n’ Roll”.

For his personal life, it is known that Carmine is in a relationship with radio personality Leslie Gold, and they reside in New York City. His brother is drummer Vinny Appice.
