She is the first woman from Denmark to have held the top ranking position in tennis.

Caroline Wozniacki was born to parents who were professional athletes. Her father Piotr is a former soccer player, and her mother Anna played volleyball for the Polish women’s national team. In 2006, Caroline reached the quarterfinals at Memphis, losing to Sofia Arvidsson. In her first few years on the WTA tour, Wozniacki couldn`t record a major result, but in 2008 she won the Nordic Light Open, held in Stockholm, where she defeated Vera Dushevina in the finals. In 2008, she won two more titles, Nordea Danish Open in Odense, and AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships.
