Sloane Stephens (born March 20, 1993) is an American professional tennis player who is currently ranked World No. 22 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Stephens has yet to make a WTA Tour singles final but has reached four semifinals, including one at the 2013 Australian Open, in which she defeated Serena Williams en route. Stephens was also a quarterfinalist at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.
She has five tattoos: a rose and a Japanese peace sign on her right ankle; a Tibetan symbol on her left ankle; an angel on her back; and a Native American Thunderbird on her wrist.

Her father, James Morrow Otis (b. 1940), was an attorney, and her mother, Carol Otis née Dimit (b. 1942), was a professional fund-raiser. She was raised in San Francisco along with her older sister, Christine "Chrissie" K. Otis (b. 1967), a modeling agent, and her younger brother, Jordan Otis, an assistant director.

She met her husband Matthew, an environmental scientist, while hiking in May 2005 and married him that December.
