Born into a mixed family of a Jewish father, and Catholic mother, it is an interfaith family and Casey didn’t have to choose sides. He and his family moved a lot during his childhood, to the Chicago area, living in Evanston, Illinois, and Wilmette where he went to McKenzie Elementary School.
After Wilmette, the Abrams family moved to Idyllwild, California where his father worked as a teacher of film production at Idyllwild Arts Academy. He went to high school in Idyllwild, and the enrolled at the academy where his father worked, studying classical bass instruction and improvisation, and where during his years there Casey was also a part of jazz ensembles, learning about music and also playing jazz piano.
