Charles Mccord Net Worth $5 million
Charles attended the State University, Missouri where he studied journalism. After graduating, he started his career in Springfield, Missouri working at KICK in 1963. He also worked as a sideline reporter on television, then went to the now defunct WFAA which was located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He continued with work for various radio stations in Washington, DC, including WWDC and WTOP, until in the early 1970s, he joined WNBC in New York City. He first worked for the weekend program “Monitor” as a news reader, before getting his most prominent role as a sidekick to Don Imus. “Imus in the Morning” became very popular and was syndicated through numerous stations across the US. It was broadcast almost every weekday morning and was even later simulcast on television. His net worth was gradually increasing, thanks to all of these opportunities.
In 1988, the radio station WNBC signed off and was replaced by WFAN. With this change, both Imus and McCord were retained, and McCord continued to serve as the morning show news anchor for WFAN, and to be part of the station even after Imus left, eventually leaving the station after more than three decades. However, he reunited with Imus in the revival of “Imus in the Morning” in 2007, when the program returned to radio as part of WABC. He performed many tasks for the show, including writing comedy material and news reporting, in particular becoming known for writing material for celebrity impersonators such as Rob Bartlett and Larry Kenney. He also rotated characters, either playing an antagonist, an Imus sycophant, or the straight man. He continued to work until he announced his retirement in April 2011, which was finalized after a month, his net worth continuing to build until this point. He was replaced by Connell McShane.
“Imus in the Morning” continued to run until the end of its contract with Fox Business Network in 2015.
Not much is known about Charles personal life. He has never discussed it in his program though it is known that he stuck with Imus because of their friendship which had developed as they started working together. There is a social media account of “Imus in the Morning” though it started after Charles’ retirement, and is still active despite the end of the show’s run.
