Perhaps he was best known for his appearances on TV in “Chappelle’s Show”, not only as an actor, but also as a writer of episodes. Charlie passed away in April 2017.

Charlie’s father was a police officer, but he also liked to act and perform at stand-up comedy, so acting was nothing new for the Murphy family, so it was no surprise that both Charlie and Eddie Murphy chose to become actors. Charlie’s career began in 1984; his first appearance was on the TV comedy sketch show  “Saturday Night Live”, and he then appeared in such movies and shows as “Mo’ Better Blues”, “The Kid Who Loved Christmas” and “Jungle Fever”. This was the time when Murphy’s net worth began growing. Of course, these roles did not bring him a lot of fame; only later, in 1993 when he appeared in the movie entitled “CB4”, did he became more noticeable and appreciated. Soon he was cast in the movie “King’s Ransom”, starring with Anthony Anderson, Jay Mohr, Kellita Smith and others, and which contributed significantly to Charlie Murphy’s net worth.

What is more, Charlie worked as an executive producer of the album by the group called K-9 Posse. In 2003 Charlie became part of a successful project called “Chappelle’s Show”, which aired until 2006 and had a huge impact on the growth of Charlie’s net worth. In 2009 Murphy began working on his own show called “Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy”. In addition to this, he acted in such shows as “1000 Ways to Die” and “Black Jesus”.

In addition to his work in the movie and television industries, Charlie was also involved in the creation of several video games., but all of his efforts contributed over the years to his modest fortune.

While talking about Charlie’s personal life, it can be said that he married Tisha Taylor Murphy in 1997, but sadly she died from cancer in 2009. Murphy has three children: two from his marriage to Tisha and one from a previous relationship. All in all, Charlie Murphy was a talented person, who maybe sometimes have felt overshadowed by his brother’s success, but he occasionally worked as his bodyguard, and said publicly that he loved Eddie ‘like a brother!’ A comic to the last, Charlie Murphy died of leukemia at his home in Tewksbury Township, New Jersey, on 12 April 2017.

1[on the Rick James story on Chappelle's Show (2003)] I knew it was something [special] when we took it over to my baby brother [Eddie Murphy's] house. I was like, "Check out this Rick James sketch." And we watched it and he was silent throughout the whole sketch, so I thought it was horrible. Soon as it stopped playing, he just said one word: "Genius." And then busted out laughing like, "Play that shit again!"
