Clea made her acting debut as a guest-star in TV’s ‘’Dangerous Minds’’, and her first silver screen appearance portraying Kelsey in ‘’Little Witches’’ in 1996. She went on to appear in two episodes of ‘’ER’’ and in ‘’Buffy the Vampire Slayer’’, both in 1997, and continued playing supporting roles throughout the late 90s, including parts in ‘’The Alarmist’’ and ‘’Girl’’, released in 1997 and 1998 respectively. Additionally, she acted in ‘’The Faculty’’ and ‘’She’s All That’’. However, Clea made her big breakthrough as Georgina in ‘’Girl, Interrupted’’, the movie based on a real life experience of Susanna Kaysen, starring alongside Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder, and which won an Oscar and seven other awards. In the same year, DuVall starred as Cally in ‘’Wildflowers’’, and in two episodes of the TV comedy romance series ‘’Popular’’ in 2000. Her net worth was well set.

As of the next year, she was cast as the main character in ‘’See Jane Run’’, playing a former waitress who turns to crime after realizing her life has no point, and which received mostly positive reviews from the audience. Clea then played a supporting role in ‘’The Laramie Project’’, a crime drama television show nominated for four primetime Emmy awards, and winning the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Television Movie. In 2003, she began working on the drama fantasy show ‘’Carnivàle’’, leaving the show after appearing in 24 episodes. Clea subsequently acted in ‘’The Grudge’’ alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jason Behr in 2004, which grossed over $187.2 million at the box office, although receiving mixed reviews from the critics. In 2006, she joined the cast of ‘’Heroes’’, portraying the FBI Agent Audrey Hanson, and in 2007 had a minor role in ‘’Zodiac’’, a critically acclaimed crime movie.

She has more recently begun working on ‘’American Horror Story’’, making her first appearance as Wendy Peyeser in season two, and appearing in five episodes of the show. DuVall then played one of the main characters, Virginia in ‘’ Jackie & Ryan’’ in 2014, and audiences could see her as Emma Borden in ‘’The Lizzie Borden Chronicles’’, a 2015 horror television show. In the same year, she joined the cast of ‘’Better Call Saul’’, portraying Dr. Lara Cruz, and has been playing Marjorie Palmiotti in ‘’Veep’’ since 2016. When it comes to Clea’s future projects, her appearance in ‘’Brooklyn Animal Control’’ has been announced. In conclusion, Clea has made over 70 television and movie appearances so far.

In her personal life, Clea resides in Los ngeles, is gay, and has dated Ellen Page, Camila Gutierrez and Summer Phoenix. Unsurprisingly, she has stated that she’s happy about playing gay roles.
