He is a comedian and actor, best known for his appearances in both the US and UK versions of the television show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” He has also made appearances in various Drew Carey shows, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Colin Mochrie? As of mid-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $1 million, mostly earned through a successful career in comedy. He’s made appearances in numerous comedy and improvisational shows, and also worked on game shows, animations and films. As he continues his career his wealth will likely increase as well.

Colin was very shy when he was younger, and while attending Kilarney Secondary School he often proclaimed himself a loner. He wanted to become a marine biologist, but then things changed after he became part of a play entitled “The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch”. He made the crowd laugh, and realized that he wanted to pursue a career in comedy. He matriculated from high school as a valedictorian, and then attended Studio 58 where he found out about improvisational comedy.

After graduating, he became a part of the Vancouver Theatre Sports League, and while working with the group he participated in various plays; eventually he would meet Ryan Stiles and the two would start performing together. After “Expo ‘86” Colin left TheatreSports League and moved to Toronto where he became part of The Second City, and worked there for three years, becoming a writer, actor and director for the company – he was included in many skits such as a five-minute version of James Bond. His net worth was now established.

After leaving Second City, he took a break from comedy to spend time with his family. He then auditioned for the new British Improv show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” but was not successful. The next year he moved to Los Angeles to audition there, but was asked to go to London. He appeared in one episode but was released after that. He then auditioned once more, and became a regular cast member until the show ended 1998 after seven years. After the end of the British run, he joined the American version of the show hosted by Drew Carey. He invited Ryan Stiles to be part of the show and they appeared in the August 1998 debut, becoming regulars in the program until 2006. The show included segments such as “Scenes from a Hat” in which the cast members would act out various scenes suggested by audience members. There were also musical segments which Colin felt was his weakness. His net worth was rising steadily.

Colin also started to appear in various commercials for Canada, with one commercial showcasing him as the “Snack Fairy” complete with a ballet tutu. He also started to appear in other TV shows such as “The Brady Bunch” and “Supertown Challenge”.

In a busy professional life, Colin then became known for his parts in “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” and “Blackfly”. He made guest appearances on “The Drew Carey Show” and “The Red Green Show”, and also had a show on Animal Planet entitled “Wild Survival Guide” while continuing to make various commercials. He also made an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” as the Overly Sensitive Man, a character popularised by “Whose Line”.

He continued his career with appearances on television spots and commercials. Soon he would also try his hand at hosting the game show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” He became part of “Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza” and soon returned for the revival of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” during 2013. It is easy to see where Colin gets his wealth from.

For his personal life, Colin has been married to Debra McGrath since 1989 and they have a son. He also has his own website which is regularly updated with his projects.

1You know, in the 1970's, when I was in high school, I belonged to a band called the Happy Funk Band. Until an unfortunate typo caused us to be expelled from school.
2When I'm on stage, it's a little world I've created where I'm sort of the thing, so I have total control over everything that happens. When we're improvising, I'm with someone I totally trust. I know things are going to work out. I don't have those guarantees in life. There are no consequences on stage.
3There's many times this year I've sat back and thought, I'm making a living from making things up. It's the only skill I have so I've been really lucky.
4There are so many things I'd like to change in the industry. Everything from the reliance of style over substance to their reluctance to hire me for big budget blockbusters, but the thing I would love most would be if they understood people don't have to be Hollywood beautiful to be sexy or interesting.
5I think the challenge is going out in front of a paying audience with absolutely nothing and trying to entertain them for two hours. Thankfully, I only think about that right before we go on, and then once we're out there, everything's fine.
6If Sting retires, will he change his name to Stung?
7Give me liberty or give me a bran muffin!
8We all have a dinosaur deep within us just trying to get out.
9I am such a pessimist that every project has surpassed what I envisioned.
10And if that isn't the truth, it would be a lie.
11Many people think it's in bad taste to advertise for an insane asylum... but come on down. We're going crazy.
12I'm handsome, no ands, buts or ifs.
13I'm a traveling practical joker. That's my line of work.
14I have many favorite artists... Van Gogh was one, but he didn't really sing a lot!
15I do enjoy working with Ryan [Stiles] although he owes me money.
16As a kid I watched television 24 hours a day and loved every minute of it. The two shows that always make me laugh and are therefore my favorites are The Dick Van Dyke Show and Fawlty Towers.
17Well, it seems all the fish in the rivers are dying. Could this be an act of cod?
18We want to be funny. We want to make people laugh... We'll do whatever it takes.
19To be a dramatic writer takes hard work, talent, and discipline. And that's why I just make up crap.
20This just in: Beverly Hills 90210, Cleveland Browns 3.
21The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, these are just some of the people who threatened to sue if we used their songs.
22Please call your second witness, and then call your mother, she worries.
23My most important professional accomplishment to date is the ability to keep working with absolutely no skills whatsoever.
24My god! It's a hamster with explosives taped around its waist!
25Onstage I do all the stuff I'd never do in real life, like lashing out at people who make me mad or freaking out in a long bank lineup. Performing allows me to fulfill all the sicko fantasies I've ever had.
26Nine out of ten Americans believe that out of ten people, one person will always disagree with the other nine!
27We'll be back to our nature documentary, 'Baggy the Anorexic Elephant' in just a second.
28The people who influenced me most were the people who said I would never make it. They gave me a thirst for revenge.
1(1996-) Director of the touring company at Second City Toronto.

4"Getting Along Famously" - CBC pilot, with wife Debra McGrath, airs January 10, 2005. [January 2005]
5He and Brad Sherwood are currently on tour doing their improvisation show. [November 2004]
6Best friends with Whose Line Is It Anyway co-star Ryan Stiles.
7The "Hollywood Director" skit on the television show, Whose Line Is It Anyway? (1998), in which Colin always plays the improv director of the other characters, is a reference to his real-life role of directing the touring company at Second City Toronto, which he's done since 1996.
8Is the actor/comedian present on many "Mohegan Sun" casino commercials.
9Has become an Internet meme as amateur flash animations called 'animutations' reference him often.
