Cynthia Weil Net Worth $100 Million
Cynthia Weil is the daughter of Morris Weil, who worked as a furniture store owner, and Dorothy Mendez; her mother was from a Sephardic Jewish family. Before she became a famous songwriter, Cynthia tried herself as an actress and dancer, but couldn’t find a permanent place in the live entertainment industry. Soshe began writing songs, and in her early twenties she was noticed by the agents of the Aldon Music. Cynthia joined other songwriting stars such as Gerry Goffin, Phil Spector, Carole King, and Barry Mann, and immediately hit it off with Barry professionally and personally – and they married in 1961. Soon the couple soon started working, with Cynthia writing the lyrics, and Barry working as the music composer. The couple’s first song that hit the charts was performed by singer Tony Orlando, entitled “Bless You” (1961), which reached 5th place on the UK Singles chart, and 15th on US Pop chart, which increased Cynthia’s net worth a little.
In 1962 the couple had a few successful songs, such as “Johnny Loves Me”, performed by Shalley Fabares, “Uptown” by The Crystals, and “Blame It on Bossa Nova” sang by Eydie Gorme. In 1964, they wrote its first No 1 hit entitled “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’”, which was initially performed by The Righteous Brothers, but was later covered by numerous artists, such as Dionne Warwick and Hall & Oates. In the same year, the couple had another great song, entitled “Walking In The Rain”, performed by The Ronettes. In 1966, they again collaborated with The Righteous Brothers, who performed their second No 1 song, entitled “You Are My Soul And Inspiration”, further increasing Cynthia’s net worth.
By the end of the 1960s, Cynthia and Barry became two of the greatest songwriters; they penned their names on songs such as “How Can I Tell Her It’s Over”, sung by Andy Williams, “I Just Can`t Help Believing” by Bobby Vee, and “It’s Getting Better” by The Vogues. In the 1970s, the couple continued with their great work together, increasing Cynthia’s net worth by a large degree, with songs including “Rock And Roll Lullaby” by B. J. Thomas, and “Here You Come Again” by the same artist, and “We’re Over” performed by Johnny Rodriguez. The 1980s were no different, spawning songs such as “Through The Fire” by Chaka Khan, “Love Will Conquer All” performed by Lionel Richie.
After the 1980s ended, her dominance decreased, but she still managed to make an impact on the music industry, by writing songs such as “Wrong Again”, which was sung by Martina McBride, and the song performed by Vanessa Williams – “Just For Tonight”.
For their accomplishments the couple was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1987. In 2004, they opened in New York their musical show, entitled “They Wrote That?”, which was based on their personal life and songs. They won over 100 awards from Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) as well, plus the couple received the Johnny Mercer Award, which represents the highest honor from the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
Side by side with writing songs, Cynthia is also recognized as an author of two books; the first book, entitled “Rockin’ Babies” was published in 2011. and the second book was her first novel, named “I’m Glad I Did It”, published in 2015. Sales of these books have added to her fortune.
Regarding his personal life, Cynthia Weil with Barry Mann has one daughter, named Jenn Mann, who works as a psychotherapist. The couple resides in Beverly Hills, California. They have their own official website.
