At a young age, Dave discovered his passion for fishing, even though there were no fishermen in his family, but they lived near the harbor which helped him develop his skills. During high school, he started working on a chartered vessel called the Yankee Fleet, and after matriculating from Gloucester High School, he then went to work on the boat full time, while he was working on getting a license to be a captain. When he got his license, he also got his own boat and started his own business, increasing his net worth significantly. He started to specialize in tuna fishing, and this led him to be approached to become a part of the television series “Wicked Tuna”.

The reality series “Wicked Tuna” focuses on various teams of fishermen as they battle it out to see who can catch the most Atlantic Bluefin tuna; the fish is highly valued, and is mostly found in the North Atlantic Ocean. The show has become one of National Geographic’s most popular series, and it has been running for seven seasons. The show also sheds light on the US regulations on tuna fishing, as the aggressive industry has led to concerns of endangering various tuna species. It also provides an insight into the history of one of America’s oldest industries. Marciano joined during the first season of the show with his ship Hard Merchandise which was built in 1984. While he was a strong competitor, it wasn’t until the fourth season that he was able to win the season, gaining $126,000 worth of haul, leading against the Pin Wheel. The show has helped increase his net worth even further.

The show has also led to a spin-off entitled “Wicked Tuna; North vs South” which focuses on fishing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina; a lot of cast members of the original show are also featured here. Eventually, the show was renamed to “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks” and has now been airing for several  seasons.

Aside from fishing for a livelihood, and for the show, Dave also offers chartered fishing trips. He is also sponsored by fishing apparel provider Huk, and has been seen promoting their products.

For his personal life, it is known that Marciano has been married to Nancy since 1990, and they have two daughters and a son. His wife also apparently enjoys fishing.
