David James Archuleta was born on 28 December 1990, in Miami, Florida USA, and is a singer, songwriter, musician and actor with Spanish ancestry, with a little German, Danish, Irish and Iroquois ancestry from his father’s side. David is best known for appearing in the 2007 season of “American Idol”, finishing in second place. He released several successful albums after that competition, which are largely responsible for his current net worth.
How rich is David Archuleta? Sources estimate that his net worth is over $5 million as of early 2016, much of which can be attributed to his successful career in the music industry. He’s released albums, toured, and he’s even had numerous opportunities on television. Aside from those, he has a very sizable amount of winnings from singing competitions.
David Archuleta Net Worth $5 Million
Archuleta grew up in a very music-oriented family, with both his parents having musical careers. He was influenced by different genres of music, but his true passion for singing came after he watched a “Les Miserables” video. He went on to take part in musical competitions, and won at a Utah talent competition where he proved victorious in the Child Division. In 2003, he joined “Star Search” which was a television-aired singing competition, and he became the Junior Vocal Champion, finishing in second place to winner Tiffany Evans. The competition gave David some opportunities and he was able to appear in other television shows like “The Jenny Jones Show” and “The Early Show”.
The number of opportunities though started to turn problematic, as he was diagnosed to have partial vocal paralysis. He lessened the number of appearances he made, but he declined risky surgery, a decision which proved to be a good one as his voice naturally recovered. In 2007, David Archuleta decided to audition for “American Idol” by heading to the San Diego try-outs. He was accepted, and would later on prove to be one of the show’s greatest competitors, going on to a finale showdown with eventual winner David Cook. His performances convinced judge Simon Cowell and even David Cook of his capacity to win the entire competition. Archuleta’s songs would become popular, and his renditions in “American Idol” would earn multiple entries into the Billboard Hot 100, the highest of which would be his cover of “Imagine” by John Lennon. His net worth was to rise steadily.
After the competition, he release a self-titled album, and this would begin a quick ascension of his net worth. Prior to the release he made his first single called Crush, which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut album became a great success, earning gold certification and selling more than 900,000 copies worldwide. He continued to release more albums, which include a holiday album entitled “Christmas from the Heart”, released while he was touring. He also released another album called “The Other Side of Down” in 2010. By 2012, David was doing a bit of work in the Philippines by signing with network TV5 and releasing an album called “Forevermore”, which focused on covers of popular local music. By March 2012, he would then go on a two-year hiatus from the music industry having made the decision to become a full-time missionary for the Church of Latter Day Saints in Chile.
Since 2014, David has returned from his missionary work and has continued his music career. A lot is known about his career, but little of his personal life. He and his parents still reside in Utah.

It's really crazy, because it's like you've just been working. You know, you go out on stage every week and come back and rehearse and rehearse and then just all these people, out of nowhere, are like 'David!' and stuff. It's like, 'How do you know my name?' It's just bizarre, because it doesn't seem real that so many people would freak out.
