David comes from a mixed religious family; his father was a Muslim healer, while his mother was a devoted member of the Eternal Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, which is a part of the Aladura movement. However, most influential on his religion was David’s grandmother – she raised him, and from an early age presented him with the Christian faith, and would often take him with her to morning prayers.
After finishing high school, David enrolled at Kwata State Polytechnic, where he studied Architecture, and then found a job at the Federal Ministry of Housing in Llorin. However, he soon quit his job and focused more on missionary work. But before he set out on preaching, David received a Ph.D degree in Human Development from Honolulu University, Hawaii.
Starting in 1981 David’s life changed for good; he claimed to have received a vision from God, in which he was told to make the world free of all devil oppression through his preaching. As a result, he founded the Living Faith Church World Wide, and in 1982 he became an ordained pastor, as Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ordained David. In 1988 he became Bishop, and since then, he has become the wealthiest preacher in Nigeria, and the church owns several high-priced assets, including four private jets and buildings around the world. His church also has the largest auditorium in the world with 50,000 seats. He is working on expanding his dominion in Nigeria, as he has built universities and schools, including Oyedepo Covenant University, and Faith Academy, in which young people learn about David’s endeavors and his preaching.
Some of David’s book work includes such titles as “Pillars of Destiny”, The Healing Balm, The Force of Freedom”, “The Unlimited Power of Faith”, “In Pursuit of Vision”, “Walking in the Miraculous”, and “Satan Get Lost”, among many others, all of which have added a significant amount to his net worth. He has also started the publishing agency Dominion Publishing House, through which he has published all his work.
