DeRozan had an average score of 29.2 ppg and 7.9 rpg in the senior year, and earned the Moore League Most Valuable Player Award, and became a member of the California All-State team, going on to win the All-American Slam Dunk Competition, and first-team Parade All-American honors among others.
In November 2007 DeMar enrolled into the University of Southern California, choosing it over Arizona State University and University of North Carolina. In his first game for the Trojans, DeMar starred in an 85-64 triumph. In his first career regular season game against the UC Irvine, he scored 14 points. Ultimately, his performance in the Pac-10 semifinals was of great importance, scoring 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting resulting in victory for his team. His efforts were widely recognized and he eventually earned many awards and honors alongside public acclaim, including First Team Pac-10 All-Freshman honors and Pac-10 Tournament MVP. It was agreed that his performance was significantly adding up to the Trojans, including over 30 open season games, 28 scored double figures and four double-doubles, taking him to third place in all-time team ranking, scoring 485 total points.
However, in 2009 DeMar decided to enter the NBA Draft, being selected by the Toronto Raptors and signed a contract with them. The next season DeRozan was ruled out with a muscle injury, and his recovery lasted for the whole year, eventually returning in January 2015, scoring 20 points over the Philadelphia 76ers, then in a game against the Houston Rockets, DeRozan achieved 42 points, his career-high score, and was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for April.
