To begin with, the boy was raised in Wheaton by his parents Charles and Marion Dugan.

Concerning his professional career, the first role for which he was cast as the main was in the black comedy “The Girl Most Likely to…” (1972), and then he created characters for the big screen including the roles of Kit in “Night Call Nurses” (1972) by Jonathan Kaplan and Garson Hobart in “Norman… Is That You?” (1976) written and directed by George Schlatter. He also starred alongside Dee Wallace and Patrick Macnee in the critically acclaimed horror film “The Howling” (1981) directed by Joe Dante. It should be said that Dennis guest starred in a number of television series too, including “Hill Street Blues” (1982), “Hunter” (1987), “Doogie Howser, M.D.” (1993) among others, all adding to his net worth.

Since 1990, Dugan has been working as both a film and television director, often appearing in his works as a cameo. In 1990, he directed the comedy film “Problem Child” (1990), and afterwards the films “Brain Donors” (1992), “Happy Gilmore” (1996) and “Beverly Hills Ninja” (1997) directed by Dugan were released. The reviews of the aforementioned films were mixed, however, the comedy “Big Daddy” (1999) earned him a nomination for the Golden Raspberry Award for the Worst Director, even though the film grossed $234.8 million at the box office. The other blockbuster which earned the same nomination was the comedy film “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” (2007).

In 2008, Dugan directed the political satire comedy “You Don’t Mess with the Zolan” on which reviews were mixed, yet the film again grossed over $20 million. Another commercially successful comedy directed by Dugan was “Grown Ups” (2010). In 2011, Dennis Dugan managed to win two Golden Raspberry Awards as the Worst Director for directing the films “Just Go with It” (2011) and “Jack and Jill” (2011) – again, both of them were loved by audiences as the box office grossed respectively $215 million and $147.6 million.
