To begin with, the boy was raised in Mexico City, by his parents Astrid Boneta of Spanish and Puerto Rican descent, and his Mexican father Lauro González, both engineers. In 2011, he starred in the movie “Mean Girls 2”, and the same year was chosen by Adam Shankman for Drew Boley’s part in the movie “Rock of Ages”, a film adaptation of Broadway’s musical, portraying a boy dreaming of becoming a rock star in Los Angeles in the 1980s. He was then one of the protagonists of the MTV show “Underemployed” (2012 – 2013), before in 2015 playing Pete’s role in the television series “Scream Queens”. In 2016, he starred alongside Kevin de Paula, Vincent D’Onofrio and Rodrigo Santoro in the film “Pelé: Birth of a Legend” about the early life of the world famous Brazilian soccer player, and most recently was cast as a main in the teen drama “Before I Fall” (2017) directed by Ry Ruso-Young.
Finally, in the personal life of Diego Boneta, he was in a relationship with the actress Angelique Boyer from 2006 to 2010. In 2013, he was dating Michelle Salas, but he currently remains single.
