Dmitri Dell Young (born October 11, 1973 in Vicksburg, Mississippi), nicknamed Da Meathook, is a former Major League Baseball player. He played all or part of thirteen seasons in the major leagues as an outfielder, first baseman and designated hitter. He is the older brother of outfielder/ designated hitter, Delmon Young.
Announced retirement after suffering a torn hamstring in spring training. Young, who batted .292 with 171 homers and 683 RBIs in 13 seasons (1996-2008), has been hired by the Oakland County Cruisers of the Frontier League as vice president and senior advisor for baseball operations. [March 2010]
