Dorothy Hamill Net Worth $5 Million

Examining her career from 1977 to 1984, Dorothy Hamill, earned a substantial income from touring with the ice show Ice Capade and her own touring productions Cinderella and the Nutcracker. As a figure skating athlete, she still continues to make money in skating shows. In 2006, she even participated as a judge on the television show Skating With Celebrities. At present she is the mentor of Rachel Flatt, a silver medalist of the US Championships. In 2013, Dorothy Hamill took part in the sixteenth season of Dancing with the Stars but had to withdraw from the competition due to problems with her lower back.

Her contribution to figure skating can be marked for developing a new skating move called a “Hamill camel”. In addition, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance in the production of Romeo and Juliet On Ice in 1983. Dorothy Hamill has also received income from writing two autobiographies: On and Off the Ice and A Sating Life: My Story which was published in 2007 by Hyperion Press.Talking about her personal life, Dorothy Hamill is married to John MacColl. It is her third marriage as before she was married to the singer/actor Dean Paul Martin (1982-1984) and later to Kenneth Fosythe (1987-1995) with whom she has a daughter Alexandra.

Dorothy Hamill inspired her nation not only by her performance on ice but also for her looks: her oversized glasses became a trend in the 1970s and her bobbed hairstyle started a fad. It can be stated that her appearance and achievements as a figure skater led to her becoming known as an ‘”America’s sweetheart’’. In 1977, a Dorothy Hamill doll was launched. There are a lot of signs showing that she achieved considerable recognition as a figure skater: she was inducted to the Olympic Hall of fame and the Figure Skating Hall of Fame, and carried a torch at the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002.
