He is a businessman and entrepreneur, best known to the world for being a founder of American Apparel clothing line, one of the largest clothing manufacturers in North America, in which he served as the CEO from 1989 to 2014.

His professional career began in 1989, when he founded the American Apparel clothing manufacturing, designing, distributing, marketing and retailing company, based in Los Angeles. He served as company`s CEO from its inception, until 2014. In no time, American Apparel became one of the leading companies, which only increased Dovs net worth. In 2003, he opened the first retail store, and from that point on, apparently only the sky was the limit. His workers were paid from $13 to $18 per hour, which only increased the manufacturing and successful business management. In 2005, the company made over $200 million in revenues., and T the next year Dov, decided to sell the company to the Endeavor Acquisition for $360 million, in order to take the company public, he was then presented as the company’s CEO and president, responsible for the company`s business from design, and branding to advertising. His campaigns attracted positive critiques, however, it also attracted negative publicity, and a few lawsuits against the company, including from Woody Allen for the billboard of Annie Hall, which cost the company $5 million.

The company soon started to fall behind in its profits, and Dov`s net worth plummeted as well. The stock`s worth was in decline, but Dov didn`t want to sell his shares, instead he asked for a loan from Standard General in order to buy more shares of the American Apparel. Anyway, Dov was eventually fired as CEO and president, leaving the company with empty pockets. He now has less than $100,000 and is apparently sleeping at his friend`s apartment.

He tried to sue American Apparel later for $80 million in total, but all of his lawsuits have so far been rejected.
