Dusty Hill Net Worth $55 Million

To begin with, Dusty grew up in eastern Dallas and attended High School there. He was influenced early by of Elvis Presley, and by Rocky Hill who played blues guitar, and when the latter formed his first band, Dusty Hill played the bass. Later, Rocky Hill, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard played together in bands like The Dead Beats, The Warlocks and American Blues. Concerning the latter, the hallmark of the band at that time was blue dyed hair, and the band played a mixture of psychedelic and blues rock music. The first single of the band was a cover of Tim Hardin’s single “If I Had a Hammer”. Several albums including “Is Here” (1967) and “Do Their Thing” (1968) were re-released later, as the band left the Dallas scene and moved to Houston. There, the band split due to different conceptions; Dusty Hill wanted more rock whereas his brother wanted stronger Blues influences, so he left the band and pursued a solo career.

Together with Billy Gibbons and his former band mate Frank Beard, Hill founded the band ZZ Top in late 1969; as music styles they opted for Blue Rock, Texas blues and Southern rock. Within six years ZZ Top released five albums “ZZ Top’s First Album” (1971), “Rio Grande Mud” (1972), “Tres Hombres” (1973), “Fandango!” (1975) and “Tejas” (1976), and by 1976 was one of the best selling rock bands of that time, significantly contributing to Dusty Hill’s net worth, yet the band went into hiatus until 1979.

The ensuing albums were modern, as the band mixed electronic sounds with their usual style. Until the sale of their internationally successful album “Eliminator” (1983), Hill and Gibbons were growing their long beards, which became hallmarks of the band. In 1994, the band released the album “Antenna” (1994) and moved to a better paid contract with RCA Records. Five years later they was released the live album “Live from Texas” (2008) which was very successful, certified multi- platinum in the USA, Canada and European Countries. In 2012, they released the studio album “La Futura”. The band has also participated in creating soundtracks, in such as “An Officer and a Gentleman”, “The Winner – American Flyers”, “Knight Rider”, “ The Stand”, “The Sopranos” and “Ghost Rider”. All the above mentioned engagements have increased the net worth of Dusty Hill.

In 2004, Hill together with his ZZ Top band-mates were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Finally, in the personal life of the singer, Dusty Hill has been married to Charlene McCrory since 2002, and has a daughter from a previous relationship.
