Dwight Yorke began his career at Aston Villa after the then manager Graham Taylor discovered him in a friendly game against the West Indies in 1989. In March 1990, Dwight debuted against Crystal Palace, and although he played right winger for the first few seasons at the club, in 1995 he was shifted to the center forward position.

That move helped Yorke to become one of the best forwards in the Premier League in the ‘90s, and he played a major part in Aston Villa’s route to the League Cup Final in 1996, when he scored in a 3-0 victory over Leeds United. Dwight subsequently attracted Manchester United’s interest, and in August 1998 he signed a deal with the Red Devils, worth of $14 million. During his stay at Villa Park, Yorke had recorded 232 appearances and scored 73 goals.

He made an immediate impact in his first season at Old Trafford, helping the team to achieve the treble by winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and the Champions League. Yorke’s great partnership with Andy Cole was pivotal in scoring 18 league goals that year, making him the Premier League Player of the Season. In the following season, Dwight bagged 22 goals and played a significant role in Manchester’s title-winning campaign. However, after scoring 52 goals in 96 games, Yorke moved to Blackburn Rovers in a $3 million deal, where he teamed up with his former partner Andy Cole, scoring 13 goals in the first season at Ewood Park.

Dwight stayed there until 2004, when he joined Birmingham City, and had a magnificent debut against Charlton, scoring a goal in the match. However, Yorke appeared on only 13 occasions for Birmingham before Steve Bruce released him in 2005. He then played for Sydney FC in the 2005-06 season, for which he earned $1 million, but already in August 2006, Dwight returned to Premier League and signed a deal with Sunderland, after the Black Cats paid Sydney $300,000 for his services. Yorke stayed three seasons at the Stadium of Light, recording 59 games and six goals. At the end of the 2008-09 season, Sunderland opted to release Yorke, and soon later, he decided to retire from playing professional football.

Following his retirement, Yorke earned a Level B coaching badge in 2010, while in 2011, he signed a two-year contract with Sky Sports to serve as a pundit.

Regarding his personal life, Dwight Yorke was in a relationship with model Katie Price, and has a son with her. He is still officially single. In 2009, he published an autobiography entitled “Born To Score”. He is a big cricket fan too. In February 2016, Dwight’s entry to the United States was denied because of an Iranian stamp in his passport.
