Earl Boykins, born on the 2nd of June, 1976, is a former American basketball player and now coach, who became known for playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for fourteen seasons and also for playing for the Italian team, Virtus Bologna. He is currently coaching Douglas County High School’s team.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Boykins grew up in a family of sports enthusiasts, as his father, Willie Williams often took him to the gym to play with him and other grown-ups. He played basketball in high school with the Cleveland Central Catholic High School, and was named the best high school basketball player in Cleveland by The Plain Dealer, and subsequently was offered two scholarships by Eastern Michigan University and University of Iowa.
After Iowa withdrew its offer, Boykins went on to play college basketball at Eastern University, where he received much recognition during his four-year stay. His earned All-Mid-American Conference first-team honors while he was a junior and a senior student, and he also helped his team win the MAC tournament in 1996 and 1998. In 1997, he was named the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year, and earned the Frances Pomeroy Naismith award in 1998.
Boykins proceeded to play professional basketball after graduation, starting with Rockford Lightning of the NBA. Despite not being drafted, he was also able to play in the NBA joining the league in 1999, for teams which included the New Jersey Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magoc, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Bobcats, Washington Wizards, and Houston Rockets.
All in all, Boykins played for 12 out of the thirty teams in the NBA, during the 14 seasons that he spent in the league from 1999 to 2012; at 5ft 3 inshe was actually the second shortest player in the NBA next to Muggsy Bogues. His time in the NBA ultimately helped his career and raised his net worth tremendously.
Other than playing for the NBA, in 2008 Boykins also played with the Italian A League team, Virtus Bologna, only playing for one year for the team but it also helped in his income.
Today, Boykins is retired from the NBA, but he currently serves as the head coach of the college team Douglas County High School.
