Eddie fell in love in music at an early age, as he was a part of his father`s band – Harold Montgomery and the Country River Express – and as early as 1990 he formed his first band on his own, Early Tymz with the aforementioned Gentry and Eddie`s younger brother John Michael. However, the band didn`t last long, and Troy ventured out on his own, but before long he reunited once again with Eddie, starting a duo called Deuce, performing in nightclubs, and soon after changed their name to Montgomery Gentry and signed a recording contract with Columbia Records’ Nashville division. His net worth was established.

The same year the two released their debut album, entitled “Tattoos & Stars” (1999), which reached No. 10 on the US Country Chart, and achieved platinum status, which increased Eddie`s net worth, but also encouraged him to continue with his music career. Their next venture was the 2001 album “Carrying On”, which reached No. 6 on the US Country Chart, and in addition achieved gold status, which also added to Eddie`s net worth.

The duo’s third album can be regarded as a breakout, working with producer Blake Chancey and collaborating with musicians Chuck Leavell and Johnny Neal, which certainly increased the chances of album becoming one of their best. It was released under the title “My Town” (2002), and became their best charted album at the time, as it peaked at No. 3 and it sold over a million copies, adding further to Eddie`s net worth.

Continuing to work with the same producer, the duo`s popularity only rose further, and with songs such as “If You Ever Stop Loving Me”, which was their first No. 1 single, and “Gone”, which reached No. 3, only let the world know that their next album would be even better than the previous. It was released in 2004 entitled “You Do Your Thing”, and it peaked at No. 2 on the US Country chart, and also achieved platinum status.

Although duo remains as popular as before, since their albums never fell below the top 20 on the US Country, the sales became lower and lower with every new release.

From 2006 until 2016 they released albums “Some People Change” (2006), “Back When I Knew All” (2008), “Rebels on the Run” (2011), and “Folks Like Us” (2015), which spawned singles such as “”Lucky Man”, “”Back When I Knew It All”, “Role With Me”, “Where I Come From”, and others, all of which sold reasonably well, and by that increased Eddie`s net worth.

Thanks to his skills, Eddie has received several awards as a part of the duo, including the Favorite New Artist – Country by American Music Awards, Vocal Duo of the Year by Country Music Association. Furthermore, Eddie was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2009, alongside Troy Gentry.

Regarding his personal life, Eddie was married to Tracy for more than 20 years, and they had four children before they divorced in 2010. Before their marriage ended, Eddie was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but luckily it was removed successfully. Most recently, one of Eddie`s children died in an accident; his son Hunter, who was 19 years old at the time.
