Evan Longoria grew up in California where he went to St. Raymond Catholic School in Downey, and later to the Saint John Bosco High School in Bellflower. Although he was excellent at baseball while in high school, Longoria wasn’t offered a college scholarship, so he enrolled at Rio Hondo Community College, and played shortstop there.

The Tampa Bay Rays selected Longoria as the 3rd pick overall in the 2006 MLB Draft, gaining him $3 million in signing bonus as a start to his net worth. Evan spent two seasons in minor leagues, representing the Hudson Valley Renegades, Visalia Oaks, Montgomery Biscuits, and Durham Bulls. He made his MLB debut in April 2008, and after only a few days, he signed a new, six-year contract worth $17.5 million. After a great rookie season, he was named the AL Rookie of the Year, and earned an invitation to his first All-Star game.

The 2009 season was the best in Longoria’s career as he won the Gold Glove Award, Silver Slugger Award, and represented the Rays in another All-Star game. In 2010, Evan again won the Gold Glove Award and made it to the All-Star for the third year in a row, while the next season, he and the Rays made it to the playoffs, but lost to the Baltimore Orioles in the first round. In April 2012, Evan suffered a torn hamstring, and was forced to miss 13 weeks before returning in August, but his absence seriously decreased Tampa Bay’s playoff chances. In November that year, Longoria signed a fresh, six-year extension worth $100 million, a deal which should keep him in Tampa until 2023.

In April 2014, Longoria set a franchise record with his 164th home run, while in September 2015, he had the 200th home run of his career. In the 2016 season, Evan recorded a career-high 36 home runs, and most recently, he had a home run on the opening day of the season on April 2, 2017.

Longoria owns a restaurant called “Ducky’s” in South Tampa. In March 2011, his 1967 black and white Camaro RS and a Buick GSX were stolen from his Arizona lot; the total worth of these two cars was $100,000 at the time.
