He is known to have contributed to the 4th largest professional ballet company in the US, Houston Ballet, and is a constant donor to the Museum of Fine Arts. He has also funded other institutions of art, including the Hobby Centre for Performing Arts, the Houston Symphony and the Houston Grand Opera among others. Sarofim also supports a number of treatment and research institutions including the University of Texas Health Science Centre, the Texas Children’s Hospital and Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Centre, plus donating more than $120 million for the Fayez S. Sarofim Research Building. During the presidential elections, he was one of the contributors in support of the candidate Jeb Bush.
