From an early age, Felix was drawn to music; his mother initiated his piano lessons, and soon Felix was playing piano and listening to Ray Charles, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye and other musicians. His mother unfortunately died when he was only 14, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a famous musician. He joined his first band called Stereos, but then, while at Syracuse University, Felix formed the band The Escorts and soon dropped out of studies in order to pursue his career in music. His next stop was the cult band Joey Dee and the Starliters, but then he formed the Rascals, with Eddie Brigati and his brother David, Gene Cornish and Dino Danelli. Soon they signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records, but before their first album came out, they had to change their name due to objections from Johnny Puleo and Borrah Minnevitch who called themselves Harmonica Rascals; so The Young Rascals were born.

The band existed until the early ‘70s, and still reformed on several occasions for touring. They recorded until 1972, and albums such as “The Young Rascals” (1966), “Groovin’” (1967), and “Once Upon A Dream” (1968) only contributed to Felix’s net worth and popularity. In 1970 Eddie left the group, and in 1971 Gene followed in his footsteps. The band recorded two more albums before the break up in 1972, with Felix as its main songwriter, however, albums “Peaceful World” (1971), and “The Island of Real” (1972), weren’t greeted very well by the public. However,, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. His net worth was well set from performing with the group.

After the falling out of the Young Rascals, Felix decided to launch a solo career; his debut self-titled album came out in 1974, using the service of Vinnie Vincent, who would later become a Kiss guitarist. He didn’t have much success until the late ‘70s and the album “Castles in the Air” (1979), with the single “Only a Lonely Heart Sees”.

He subsequently took a break from his solo career an,d worked as producer for other artists, before returning to the music scene in 1994 with the album “Dreams in Motion”, for which he used Don Was as producer. The following year, Felix was a part of Ringo Starr’s tour and his third All-Starr Band, then Felix’s next album came out in 2008 under the title “Nudge it up a Notch”, a collaboration with Steve Cropper, while in 2010 he released his latest studio album “Midnight Flyer”. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009 with his band mate Eddie Brigati, while in 2014, Felix was inducted into the Hammond Hall of Fame.

He has been touring with the reformed Young Rascals, while he also made an appearance at Madison Square Garden in 2015, in a concert with Billy Joel.

Regarding his personal life, Felix is married to Donna Lewis and the two live in Nashville, Tennessee. Previously, he was married to Mary Theresa for around 30 years; the couple had three daughters before they divorced.
