Frank Lucas Wiki/Biography
Frank Lucas was born on 9 September 1930, in La Grange, North Carolina USA, and is an infamous former drug dealer, known for cutting out middlemen and buying drugs directly from the source. It is not a surprise that Frank has been sentenced many times, and has spent considerable time in jail. As with other notorious ‘celebrities’, because of his interesting and dangerous lifestyle, a movie has been created about him.
So how rich is Frank Lucas? It is estimated by authoritative sources that Frank’s net worth is now $1.5 million, accumulated largely from his life of crime beginning in his teenage years, but apparently ending with his release from jail in 1991. His assets include various properties.
Frank Lucas Net Worth $1.5 Million
Frank Lucas says that the incident when his 12 year old cousin was murdered by the Ku Klux Klan just because he looked at a white woman influenced him to become a criminal. He started committing minor crimes, but moved hastily to New York City for his own safety, where he apparently became friends with Bumpy Johnson, a gangster, who he worked with and even lived with his family. When Johnson died, Frank became a drug dealer, shipping drugs from Asia by putting them into furniture and pallets – called “Blue Magic – and as this operation was successful, Frank’s net worth began growing very quickly. According to him, at one point he was earning about $1 million per day. As Lucas did not trust everyone, his friends and family were also involved in this business.
However, Frank has spent quite a lot of time in prison. In 1976 he was sentenced to 70 years for drug violations, but was released after five years for co-operating with the DEA, and he and his family were placed in a witness protection program. In 1984 he was sentenced again for drug trafficking, to seven years jail, and was released in 1991. In 2007 the movie called “American Gangsters” was made, with Frank portrayed by Denzel Washington, directed by Ridley Scott and other actors that appeared in this movie were Russell Crowe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ted Levine, and Armand Assante among others. The movie received a lot of acclaim, and this also contributed to Frank Lucas’ net worth, but quite a lot of criticism too, as as many said that the story portrayed in the movie was far from what really happened.
Talking about his personal life, Frank has been married to Julianna Farrait for over 40 years, including separations forced – jail for both, as Julianna was also sentenced, complicit in her husband crimes – and voluntarily as she lived in Puerto Rico for some time. The couple has seven children, all of whom have had to go through a lot of difficulties. One of Frank’s children has even created the web page called “Yellow Brick Road”, which helps the children of parents who are in jail.
All in all, it can be said that Frank Lucas is one of the most famous drug dealers in history, although not as well known as others. Of course, he and his family had to overcome a lot of difficulties, but Frank certainly knew what he was doing, and has never expressed regret for what he has done in his life.
