After a few years Douglas won the title of the Level 4 all-around gymnastics champion in the Virginia State Championships 2004.
In 2008, she was selected for the USA nation team, and quickly showed her worth, becoming the silver medallist competing on the balance beam in Junior National Championship USA in 2010. The same year she won the event on the uneven bars in the Pan-American Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. Being 14 years old she changed her living place to Des Moines, Iowa in order to train with Liang Chow, the well known former gymnast who currently works as a coach. Even though she suffered injuries, she managed to improve her technique, and her team won gold in the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan 2011. By 2012 she managed to attain such training form that she was one of the trump cards in the whole USA team As mentioned above, she brought two gold medals home, one from artistic individual all-around competition and another shared with the team.
