Gabriel Rosado grew up in Philadelphia in the city’s Puerto Rican community and started boxing when he was 18. His mother didn’t allow him to fight, so he had to wait until he became old enough to enter a gym and start training under his own charge. Rosado’s first professional match came in January 2006 against Phil Hicklin, and it resulted in a win. He won five matches in a row before recording his first defeat against Chris Gray in October 2006.
