Geoffrey Bond Lewis Wiki Biography

Geoffrey Bond Lewis was born on 31 July 1935, in Plainfield, New Jersey USA, and was an actor best known for his roles in a series of Clint Eastwood movies, such as “High Plains Drifter”, “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”, “Every Which Way but Loose”, “Pink Cadillac” and “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”, in which he usually played a villain. He passed away in 2015.

So just how rich was Geoffrey Lewis? According to sources in mid-2016, Lewis had established a net worth of over $3 million, acquired largely during his acting career which spanned over 60 years.

Lewis grew up in Rhode Island, but when he was 10 years old his family moved to California. While in high school, he excelled in dramatic arts, which led him to attend the Plymouth Theater in Massachusetts. He later studied at New York City’s Neighborhood Playhouse.

Lewis began his acting career by appearing in a number of off-Broadway productions, then made his film debut in the 1971 Vietnam War film “Welcome Home, Soldier Boys”. The following year he took a minor part in the film “The Culpepper Cattle Co.”, and played the gangster Harry Pierpont in the 1973 film “Dillinger”.

Lewis began his long collaboration with Clint Eastwood with the 1973 Western “High Plains Drifter”, playing small-town baddie Stacey Bridges. He went on to appear in other Eastwood films during the 70s, such as in the crime drama “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”, playing the thief Eddie Goody, and in the comedy “Every Which Way But Loose”, playing Eastwood’s buddy Orville Boggs. Aside from these Eastwood pieces, Lewis’ other 70s films included “Smile” and “Salem’s Lot”, among several other. His net worth rose steadily.

After establishing himself as a well-known character actor, Lewis reprized the role of Boggs in the 1980 sequel “Any Which Way You Can” and went on to work with Eastwood during the 80s, taking the role of John Arlington in “Bronco Billy”, and Ricky Z in “Pink Cadillac”. During this time he starred as bartender Earl Tucker in the sitcom “Flo”, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He also appeared in the series “Little House On the Prairie” and “Falcon Crest”. All contributed to his net worth.

During the 90s Lewis took supporting roles in numerous films, including “Man Without a Face”, “Maverick”, Westerns “Gunsmoke: The Last Apache” and “The Gambler V: Playing For Keeps”, and another Eastwood crime drama “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”, significantly boosting his wealth. He starred as Willis P. Dunleevy in the television series “Lands End” and also appeared in the series “In the Heat of the Night” and “Murder, She Wrote”.

The 2000s saw Lewis taking roles in the films “The Way of the Gun”, “Mind Games”, “Down In the Valley”, “Cold Ones” and “The Butcher”, among numerous other. His performance in the film “Old Man Music” earned him a Best Actor award at the 2006 California Independent Film Festival Slate Awards. Lewis’ television roles of this period included in the series “Hawaii Five-O”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “My Name Is Earl”. His last film appearance was in the 2012 “Retreat!”.

Aside from his acting career, Lewis was also a member of the spoken-word performance group called Celestial Navigations, along with the musician Geoff Levin. He was also a devoted member of the Church of Scientology.

When it comes to his private life, in 1973 Lewis married Glenis Batley, with whom he had three children, one of them being the famous actress Juliette Lewis. After their divorce in 1975, the actor married Paula Hochhalter in 1976, with whom he also had three children; they remained together until Lewis’ death, from a heart attack in 2015, being aged 79.

1I work with the director and the other actors, but I figure that is about two inches of something that is a yard long. The other 34 inches is what I have to do myself. So far I have not conflicted with a director or writer or anybody else. But I know basically what I want to do as far as acting goes.
