The son of Edward Levert, singer of the R&B group O` Jays, and his wife Martha, Gerald traveled across the USA with his father`s band, and while growing up his interest in music would become bigger and bigger.
He was the initiator of the founding of LeVert, alongside his brother Sean Levert and friend Marc Gordon. Their debut album came out in 1985, entitled “I Get Hot”, but without any major success, nevertheless, the trio continued to work together, and in 1987, their third album “The Big Throwdown”, achieved gold status, and ended up at No. 3 on the US R&B chart. The albums that followed, including “Just Coolin’” (1988), “Rope a Dope Style” (1990), and “For Real Tho’” (1993), all achieved gold status, which only increased Gerald`s net worth.
