Glen grew up in his hometown, and went to Fort Walton Beach High School. After matriculation, he enrolled at the University of Alabama, where he played football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his first season, he wore the jersey in all twelve games and had 179 rushing yards, 91 receiving yards and scored one receiving touchdown. Although he played in 12 games, his playing minutes were limited as he was a substitute to Kenneth Darby, and also shared time with Jimmy Johns.
He was redshirted for the following season, but then returned to the field under coach Nick Saban; his playing time and performance saw an improvement to his first season, as he scored four touchdowns and had 545 rushing yards, along with 142 receiving yards.
